Love YA lit? Love writing fic?  Love writing fic for YA lit and wondering why there doesn’t seem to be very much for most books?

Join the YAlit100 challenge!

  • You MAY claim more than one table at a time.
  • You MAY do crossovers, fusions, and AU fic! If you intend to write crossovers and/or fusions, claim the table for the MAIN WORK (so, for example, if you want to write 100 godly-parent-fusion fics, your claim would be “Percy Jackson,” unless all 100 fics would star characters from Anna and the French Kiss or something. SOME ASPECT of all 100 fics must be constant for the book/table you choose!)
  • Fics can be ANY LENGTH. You may write 3-sentence fics, drabbles, one-shots, six-word-ficfests, whatever. The whole point is just to encourage more YA lit fic! :)

So far, there are just the first few tables up, but I will be adding my usual amount of ALL THE YA BOOKS.  :P  Join and/or Watch the
comm on LJ for updates, and make sure to suggest any book(s) that you may think I’ll miss or that you want to see sooner!

A couple of friends of mine have been following this community for a while, and I've just joined. I'm now posting to plug Vericon, a convention I'm going to in Cambridge (MA, not the other one) what has Holly Black, Brendan Sanderson and Austin Grossman as guests, and fairly cheap full-con registration ($20, I think). March 18-21, www.vericon.org (for registration).

Hey everyone,

I own the Official Holly Black fansite Faerie Drink.
If you didn't know already Tithe movie options were recently purchased, Faerie Drink is holding a discussion to see who YOU would like to be casted in the movie. Tells us what you think here; http://www.faeriedrink.com/?p=244

  1. How did you discover Holly Black's work? I was in a Chapters book store (around 2002/2003) in P.E.I on vacation, found Tithe and instantly fell in love. I read it at least five times in two weeks, and still continue reading it.
  2. What appeals to you most about her writing? Her characters and her descriptions of the urban fantasy world. It reminds me of a beautiful old abbey that had all its stained-glass windows broken out of; beautiful but decrepit.
  3. Which of her books is your favourite? Totally Tithe. I mean, it's Tithe!
  4. Favourite characters? Kaye, Corny, Roiben and Ravus.
  5. Least favourite? Luttie-Loo, Spike or Gristle.
  6. Favourite quote from her books? 'Gone in a faerie sigh'. I will probably get that tattooed.
  7. What are you currently reading? I'm finishing up Dreamfever by Karen Marie Moning, and will be starting The Poison Eaters later this week.
  8. Vampires vs Elves: Uh, if this is Magic the Gathering, I'm going to say vampires 'cause the elves are racist and scary. If we're talking about sparkly-power vampires...er....elves.
Books I'd Recommend:
  1. American Gods by Neil Gaiman
  2. Sandman by Neil Gaiman
  3. Dangerous Angels by FLB
  4. Some William Butler Yeats
  5. The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
  6. The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
  7. Witchblade (it's a comic, can that count?)
  8. The Darkness (another comic, but Jackie Estacado is a hot little piece of evil!)
  9. Erm... if I think of any more I'll add them.
How did you find the community? I was 'Googling' things on Holly Black and this popped up!

Anything else?
Erm... not much? I'm excited to finally be apart of the Holly Black community! :D
Little story... When I met Holly Black at a book signing in my city &told her (through hyperventilations of course) that I read her stuff at 11-12, she was like, "Oh man! I'm so sorry if I've caused you any damage! OH MAN!". She's ridiculously cute&awesome.
